Las Vegas Record Sealing Lawyer | Las Vegas Expungement Attorney

Las Vegas Record Sealing Lawyer

On the federal side, there is no record sealing or expungement statute.  The only way to set aside a federal conviction is to receive a presidential pardon.  On the state side, Nevada is one of the only states that has relatively generous remedies to seal your record (i.e., erase it) when compared to other states.  Just because you have a felony or a misdemeanor conviction in Nevada does not mean it will necessarily stay on your record forever.  There are some crimes that you cannot get sealed such as sex crimes but there are plenty of convictions you can get sealed.  In rare cases, even convictions that can be sealed may be opposed by the District Attorney under a public safety argument, but it is up to the presiding judge whether or not to grant you relief.  Record sealing that is successful results in the court clerk destroying your file and therefore makes is totally inaccessible to the public.  This is something I have done for many of my clients who previously worried that their past would come to haunt them for employment or immigration purposes.
